Who is Barack Obama?

Who is Barack Obama? The man who tries to stop the motor of America. Not like Ayn Rand's creation, John Galt stopped the motor of the world in order to fix it. He saw America he didn't like, America who lost its way. America where the American spirit is no longer blowing. America which is more like Europe. What he did was erase and rewind. A new start for America. Then came Barack Obama...

Socialism is not a curse. Portraying Barack Obama has an evil socialist is out of context, Barack Obama is not the Joker. The joker if any is an anarchist. Not like Anarchy or Capitalism, Socialism isn't such a bad system, like many conservatives are trying to portrait it. Many social countries in Europe prosper and thrive. The social system fits them well, both mentally and spiritually. European are not Americans, people tend to forget that. Americans go to Europe to see culture, art. European go to America to have fun, to experience America itslef.

It may be more comfortable to get old in France, Norway or what used to be Iceland. But one Europe is enough for one world. Europe is old and getting older. Obama's efforts to convert America into Europe by putting chains on the free market will create a different America. America that has no culture, short history and now, with no fun.

America owns its fame and name to all the greedy capitalists who build it. Thanks to Rockefeller, Gates and the rest of the disgustingly rich folks, America is America.

The economy graph is dynamic. Every business owner will tell you that, some days are better than others. Economy is like mirror of life itself. There is no need to change a religion for few days of bad mood. In economy just like life, you do what you can and hope for the best. And there is nothing like a fat bonus to put you back on track.

"We will not rebuild our economy on the old model of bubbles and busts. We'll only climb out of the current crisis by creating a new, sustainable foundation for our economy's future -- and make the tough choices to put our economy back on the road to long-term prosperity." -Barak Obama
And how exactly are you going to do that Mr. Obama?
"Until and unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to become the means by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of other men. Blood, whips and guns--or dollars. Take your choice--there is no other." -Ayn Rand
The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it.

I think it was Milton Friedman who said, "That Guy Gutraiman is a pretty nice guy, for a socialist." Or maybe it was me thinking it.

Just kidding, my friend. You made me stop and think. I didn't realize you thought about these issues. I really admire our new president, but I think it's wonderful how he's learning that self-government is not dead. Our dear leader is learning first-hand how much we care about freedom and wealth.

Well said! Difficult subject.

It's true 'people go to America to experience America itself'.

Do you think the United States under Bush was going the right way?

I think making the US a bit (and just a bit) more European won't do it anything but good. For my part I would have hated to live in the US (and what's with the US hogging the name America anyway - isn't America not one but two great continents with lots of more countries?), the country under Obama will hopefully make it a bit more human, a bit less narcissistic and a lot less libertarian.

Or maybe you're joking again...

I think we stop going the right direction when we assume that one person or one set of ideas has all the answers to our problems. I'm almost reluctant to call myself a conservative anymore, because more and more conservatives argue that the Bible, the republicans, or even the U.S. Constitution has all the answers. A basic reading of the U.S. Constitution makes clear that it doesn't have the answers to problems that will come up two hundred years down the road.

This is an excellent topic, 9uy! There will never be a last word on this.

love reading your perspective on Obama/America...

Have you watched Zeitgeist, the movie? I have link to it on my blog...

@rosy- I checked it out. Interesting.

@fredwrite - Right said fred. There is no one doctrine or one solution to all our problems, there are many. But there is a way which cause less damage than. I call it pragmatism.

@Sharon McPherson - Americanism is unique it a sense that it is culture for itself.

@hildigunnur - I hope America will never be like Europe. I like America the way it is. America referred the what it known to be the USA. When I say "America" nobody thinks "Maybe I'm talking about Brazil". It is a term already accepted.

@staceyjwarner - I watched the movie and the sequel. Interesting conspiracy movies about conspiracies.

I'm not into politics. True freedom and wealth can only be found in Christ. The Holy Spirit is the only Spirit I care to see moving. Thanks for giving me My Deadly Truth fix. Hope this finds you, your lovely bride and child blessed beyond measure.

"True freedom and wealth can only be found in Christ."

Beautifully said. I meant no disrespect to the Bible or to God. I meant that modern people abuse the Bible by applying it to something that is, to some degree, independent of it. For example, in the sixteenth century people abused the Bible by saying that the Bible taught that the Sun moves around the Earth. Religious people eventually changed their minds, but the Bible didn't change and neither did God's moral teaching. I just think that modern conservatives are, once again, in the process of abusing scripture. But God will forgive us if we ask.

And blessings on little Gabriela and her family.

Interesting post.

My understanding is that you are looking at Barack Obama from a tourists point of view. For those of us who live here, "experiencing America" is a little more painful than a tourist who comes to look around and then go home to comfortable Europe. We have to deal with corporate greed and all it's results - no healthcare, no vacation, no help, debt up to our ears, and the helplessness of knowning it will only get worse. So that's what I think of "experiencing America". Barack Obama is a godsend and I hope he manages to finally change the things that are so wrong about this country. That doesn't mean he's going to make it Europe, it means we're going to get a little social justice, thank god.

Hildigunner....America is our name, due to the fact that the official name of our country is:
The United States of America. Even my friends in Canada hold no horror to the distinction and use of that term. The term: States, is even okay in a vulgar or slang sense, i.e.; I live in the States.
Maybe if it annoys you so much, you can use the term: United. There, just trying to help. Me, the guy from the United.
