Israel is about to release about 1000 murders and terrorists for the release of one Israeli soldier named Gilad Shalit. This is a big victory for Hamas, who wins a big prize for kidnapping a solider and keeping him in captivity for over 3 years now.Although my heart is with the Shalit family, I think Israel is committing a big mistake by releasing hundreds of murderers for the price of one soldier. As hard and ugly as it sounds, it is game of numbers and the by doing so Israel is preparing Hamas (actually encouraging Hamas) and other terrorist groups to kidnap more soldiers.
The equation should be a soul for a soul, nothing more and nothing less. Israel shouldn't surrender to tears and agony that Hamas strategy is so successfully executing.
In fact, Israel should not negotiate with Hamas at all over any kidnapped soldier. Israel should hang any name the terrorist groups suggest to be released in an exchange for any prisoners deal.
What kind of encouragement Hamas and its allies will get if the only thing they'll get in return for kidnapping an Israeli solider is dead bodies?
Israeli soldiers are frequently briefed that in a case of kidnap attempt they should do anything in order to escape even in the ultimate cost of their lives. The message is very clear, if you are kidnapped, you are considered dead.
Unfortunately, once again Israel is showing its weakness in the ongoing war against terrorism.
Free Gilad Shalit! (in any price?)

Good point, 9uy. An eye for an eye.
Maybe they'd finally get the message if it went something like this. You kill one of our guys, we'll kill 200 of yours. And then do it.
Or if you send in a suicide bomber, we'll send you a truck bomb. You send us a truck bomb, we send you a train bomb. You keep it up we'll flatten your lousy, stinking country.
If you want to know the truth, the world is losing the war on terror. And a lot of it started right herre in the United States when we elected Obama as our president. He's so convinced that if we're just nice to them, they won't want to kill us anymore. He's not a leader, he's weak and the world knows it. More importantly, the terrorists know it.
Don't take my word for it. Just look at what's going on right now in Iran...
Hey, 9uy. Sorry I've been gone. I've been busy. But that's no excuse. Hard to believe its been three years for Shalit. It always happens this way. Israel gives back 500 guys in exchange for 3 of their own men. Or a thousand for 1. It's ridiculous, but I'm always impressed by Israel's strength. Hamas obviously can't fight a real war, so they have to go the newspapers and use lies. Hang in there, my brother.
Hey...
I'm also inm a crrossroads regarding to the negotiation. I've always supported the cause and also participated actively for it, but now I'm hearing about the almost ridiculous number Hamas is asking for (and Israel is almost accepting it, which is worse) and I'm starting to wonder if that is the correct way...
I'm confused and it's painful, we're speaking about a poor guy who was sent there by the country, unfortunately he was kidnapped and his case turned to be very long beacuse of dirty politics, interests and fanatism, but on the other side if the seal the deal we will sadly see the harsh consequences very soon and other innocent people will pay the price.
Lets remember that for the last 3000 years the Jews have been the focus of so much hatred and hostility.
Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, medieval Christians looked upon Jews as outsiders and as people who did not belong in the community.
Why...and when will it STOP? More education and less brainwashing of children and young adults to despise the Jewish people might be a positive start?

Israel is not loosing the battle against terrorism:
Israel is becoming the MOST TERRORIST STATE in the world.
